plant to pot:
how to style your brixton planter

the brixton tall planter

Because of this planter’s height, we recommend planting a tall, upright plant such as an agave plant, which will contrast the soft, geometric lines of the planter with its bold, sharp leaves.

pro tip: consider seasonality

Choose your plants based on seasonality and climate. Our Brixton Series planters are built to withstand any weather year-round, so choose a hearty plant that can do the same. In colder climates, evergreens are a great option. In hot climates, choose plants that thrive in sunlight and high temperatures. Want to switch up your look seasonally? You can do that too—our planters create the perfect base for seasonal arrangements.

the brixton long

Are you using a Brixton planter to create privacy? Plant taller plants into the Brixton Long! Japanese camellias (Camellia japonica) will add a pop of colour and, paired with a trellis, create a beautiful living wall.

pro tip: consider the size

The ideal size plant for a planter is one where the root ball is only a few inches smaller than the inside of the planter. When a plant is too small for a planter, soil can hold too much moisture, which can lead to root rot. If a plant is planted into too tight of a container, the roots will suffocate and won’t be able to draw enough nutrients or moisture from the soil. Do your best to match a planter with a diameter 1"–2" bigger than your plant’s diameter.

The only time you should consider a larger planter is when you are repotting or transitioning your growing plant into a bigger pot. If this is the case, place your growing plant into a planter that has roughly 2"–4" of extra space in diameter.

the brixton hanging window planter

Try pairing this planter with English Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia). Its soft, pastel colour and light, calming scent will promote rest and relaxation in your outdoor living space.

the brixton cube planter

Looks great with a Boxwood Sphere (Buxus Sempervirens), which juxtaposes straight lines and sharp edges with round curves.

the brixton window box planter

For the Window Box, we recommend rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus). This plant’s lush, strong demeanour perfectly complements a Window Box and effortlessly garnishes your Veradek Outdoor Kitchen. It will also smell amazing!
