reviews summary
Customers say these corten steel planters are beautiful, well-made, and sturdy additions to patios and entrances. Many reviews mention the easy assembly process, though some note the wing nuts can be challenging to install in tight corner spaces. Common feedback includes appreciation for the heavy-duty construction and modern design. Frequent comments address the rusting process - planters arrive in regular steel color and develop patina naturally over time, or customers can speed up the process using provided solutions with vinegar, salt, and hydrogen peroxide. Users find them durable and worth the investment, with many becoming repeat purchasers who buy multiple planters for their properties.

    Damaged, poorly made, missing screws

Veradek keeps spamming me for feedback even though I unsubscribed so here goes. I have owned 10 corten Span planters for several years and have been happy with those so when I needed another I ordered this. The shipping box was undamaged but one of the panels was all bent up. The return process was too much of a pain so I got to it with a mallet and pliers and bent it back into shape. It didn't come with enough fasteners so I had to go to my spares bucket to assemble it. Unlike the Span planters which are one-piece, assembly is required and there are seams at the corners. The fitment of the undamaged panels is poor - there are gaps in the corners where they come together. The supplied allen wrench is too long to use on the corner fasteners. There are huge gaps in the shelf so dirt just falls through to the bottom without adding screens. Welds are visible from the outside and haven't been rusting uniformly with the rest of the planter. Such a disappointment after owning the one-piece Span planters. Won't be buying another Veradek planter as the quality has fallen off a cliff but they don't care, they already have like $2k of my money.

Hi Jonathan, thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback on the Corten Pedestal Planter. We're truly sorry to hear about the disappointing experience you've had with this product, especially as a loyal customer who has been happy with your Span planters over the years. The damaged panel, missing fasteners, poor fitment, and assembly issues you've described are completely unacceptable - this clearly doesn't meet the quality standards you've come to expect from us. I've flagged your case to our customer service team to address the product quality issues. We really value your honest feedback as it helps us identify where we need to improve, and we're disappointed to have let down a customer who has supported us with multiple purchases over the years.

Tall corten steel planter for my vines!

I got 2 of these tall slim corten steel planters to match the other two tall wide span corten steel planters in my front yard garden bed. We get sooo many compliments and we loved the look of them so much we decided to get 2 more smaller ones to flank the garage door so we could grow a dropmore scarlett vine in them that we hope grows up over the garage eyebrow pergola in a couple of years. Modern, sleek and unique, these planters do not disappoint and they age so beautifully. If you are thinking about it, buy it! No regrets here we're and happy to support a Canadian company!

Very Nice, But Would Be Better With a Liner

I ordered 2 of these pedestal planters for the front of my house. I appreciate the efficient packaging and the fact that you are meant to reuse the styrofoam from the packaging to help insulate the plant in the planter. Distressing the metal was an easy enough process. Be advised that you need to apply the mixture several times (as instructed), but that means you will need enough hydrogen peroxide and vinegar for several batches. And you need to keep a rag or paper towel handy to wipe your gloved hands off - I made the mistake of going back into the house to refill the bottle with some residue still on my hands and it removed some of the finish off of my door handle.

The reason I knocked off a star is that the planter doesn't come with a plastic liner. The plant is meant to sit on a shelf, which creates a square-shaped cavity. But there's a lot of open space around the shelf, so dirt won't stay just in the top. The instructions didn't give any suggestions on how to fill it. But I think the best way to do it would be to use landscaping fabric to line the cavity before filling it with dirt. I ended up using reusable grocery bags with holes cut in the bottom instead, but they really didn't fill the space properly. It still looks fine, but it was a bit of a pain to work out.
